San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge – Let’s go!
Come for a ride. This is a three-and-a-half minute drive beginning with the eastern span of the Bay Bridge and ending on the San Francisco side. As the name suggests, the Bay Bridge connects the two cities of Oakland and San Francisco.
See the newly constructed section of the bridge and enjoy the modern look and feel of it. This video (and ride) was taken on March 31, 2016. To further guide you, below is a video timeline of the main points of the span.
00:00:00 BAY BRIDGE – EASTERN SPAN. This is the new bridge, replacing the old span that was damaged from the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. This is on the Oakland side.
00:50:00 YERBA BUENA ISLAND TUNNEL. This is the tunnel that connects the eastern and western spans of Bay Bridge.
01:09:00 BAY BRIDGE – WESTERN SPAN. Coming out of the tunnel, the western span of the bridge comes into view. This is still the old, original bridge.
03:29:00 The ride ends just before the FREMONT ST EXIT.
